I’m Not a Writer.

Let’s make one thing clear: I am not a writer. Or at least that’s what I’ve always told myself…
I am a thinker, and I write for the purpose of giving life to my thoughts. I don’t study words, and I’m not even necessarily skilled at them- spoken or written. That said, I cannot promise the frequency or even the quality of these blog posts. After all, I am as ordinary as they come, and reading about my life is nothing exciting. But I’m coming to the realization that what I think actually does matter. I have something to say, as do you. I can promise that I will do my best to be honest and to speak truth that will encourage, uplift, and inspire.
There are so many things that I’ve wanted to say, but I never had the courage to raise my voice. But remember the parable that Jesus told about the talents (money)? It can be found in Matthew 25:14-30. The master entrusted his money with three of his servants. He gave them different amounts according to their abilities, and asked them to do their best with what He gave them. Two of the servants, who had been given great amounts of money, both invested their money and did everything they could to work and cultivate what they had in order to produce much profit. The master was very well pleased with them. Then there was the third servant, who was only given a little. This is what he said:
“Master, I knew you to be a hard man, reaping where you did not sow, and gathering where you scattered no seed, so I was afraid, and I went and hid your talent in the ground. Here, you have what is yours.” -Matthew 25: 24-25
He was afraid.
He took what the master had meant to be used and he hid it away in the dark where it could be of no benefit to anyone-because he was afraid. Perhaps he thought

“I have only been given a little, why does it matter what I do with it?”

or “I don’t want to screw up and make a fool of myself” or even “I just don’t have the time or the energy right now.”
I don’t want to be afraid anymore.
I want to be a faithful servant who did her best with what God gave her. God is clear that we are to pour our lives into the work He has called us to do, and when we are faithful with the little things, He will make us rulers over much.
Like I said, I am not much of a writer. But I admit that God has given me my thoughts and my hands and my mind and even my keyboard…so I will use them to the best of my ability in order that He may be glorified in it.
I appreciate you for reading this, and I am excited for this new journey of spilling my thoughts for other people to see. Stay tuned : )

  1. Thanks for sharing Ruth, Wow God has truly gifted you with putting your thoughts into writing. Never be afraid to stand up or to be faithful for the cause of Christ. I wasted many years afraid of being ridiculed or worse yet rejected for what I believed. I also felt the world had something to offer which God couldn’t give me, trust me that is a lie that Satan wants you to believe, perhaps I missed out on His perfect will for my life because I turned my back on Him for many years. God has indeed truly blessed me and never left me but I would encourage you to always put Him first and want to thank you for encouraging me Ruth. I look forward to joining you in this new journey of yours
